Kahlua Pumpkin Pie

I think this may become a Thanksgiving staple.  The little hint of kahlua in there is just marvelous.  This pie did not last long in my house.   I definitely need a new oven!  I have an over thermometer in the oven that tells me how hot the oven is.  (You can't trust the dial!)  I put the pie in and it is at the correct temperature.  I come back and it is off by 75 degrees!  Go figure!  Anyway, I have learned to adjust and work with the oven I have.  All I know is that I will make this over and over!  Thanks again Denise Hibit!

Denise even came over and gave it a taste test and I PASSED!

Chocolate Cherry Cake

This cake is made in a Bundt pan and is really very easy to do.  I need to practice a little bit more with it though.  I think I needed to put more cake mix in at the beginning before I put in the cherry pie filling. The cake was stuck to the pan with the cherries.

My cake looks tasty ........ and it WAS TASTY.  It didn't look very pretty when you looked at it as a whole cake.  I had to do some creative photography placement here!  LOL

Do you want a bite???

Peanut Butter Cookies

Chris Czuczman brought these cookies over and boy were they delicious!  They have a kind of hidden middle surprise.  I hope she shares this recipe with us.  She sent a box of them to my Trevor at school.  I will have to ask him how he and his friends liked them!

Jambalaya

Fat Tuesday has come and gone!  Jambalaya lives forever!  LOL  This recipe is my brother Mike's favorite made lovingly by his wife Laura! It has a nice andouille sausage and chicken base.  If you like, you can also add shrimp!  YUMMY by itself, but even better over rice.

Cincinnati Chili

This recipe is very easy to make.  Just brown the beef, onions and garlic and then throw the spices and tomato cans in to simmer.
Fill your bowl with spaghetti.....
Pour the chili on and then top it off with cheese onions and sour cream.  You could also add some hot sauce and beans!  We like it without the beans.
This is TJ's "Are you THINKING about taking this from me ... I DON'T THINK SO!"  look.

Chops with Cider Cream

Karen Harris says this recipe is the very best in the fall when the macintosh apples are at their freshest.  I made this in February and they tasted wonderful.  I am not a pork chop person, but Tom and the boys are.  These chops disappeared rather quickly.  I can't wait to taste them in the fall!

Parmesan Toast Points

These were served at the Superbowl party as well!  Karen Harris brought these and has promised to give us the recipe.  Simple ingredients make this a fast and easy appetizer...their taste was a touchdown with everyone at the party!

Centered Deviled Eggs

I really liked the hint that comes with making these deviled eggs.  I love how the egg yokes are "CENTERED"!  I found that I had to cook mine a little longer to have my yokes cooked a little firmer.  Kim also provides a recipe for the deviled egg mixture.  If you want to you can use the hint on how to center your eggs and mix up your own filling!  I served these at the Superbowl party and they were all gone by the end!

Beef Canapes with Cucumber/Horseradish Sauce

These looked so pretty on the plate when Chris brought them over.  She played with the horseradish sauce and we both agreed that it needed more horseradish!  Once she got the sauce the way she wanted it, Chris put them together on a HUGE platter.  It was just beautiful.  They were so tasty and had that nice zing from the horseradish..........just enough zing so as not to go right up your nose if you know what I mean!  LOL  Thanks Chris Czuczman!

Pheasant Ala Creme

Living in Buffalo, I had to become creative!  I looked in the wild game section at Wegmans........yes, there is a wild game section in the fresh meat department.  I found deer, buffalo, duck.........no pheasant!  Hmmm, what a conundrum!  Will chicken work?  I don't really know if it is exactly the same as pheasant would turn out, but since Tom doesn't hunt I needed chicken to be my pheasant!  All I really know is that it was just as delicious as every other recipe Nance Grinwald Sellman has given me!  Thanks again Nancy.

Chocolate Turtle Cake

OK, so it doesn't look like much in the pan, but it smelled really good while it was baking!

Upon close inspection, you can see the chocolate cake! Oozing out of the middle are caramel, pecans, and chocolate chips!
Just add some caramel sauce, hot fudge, and ice cream and you have one TASTY dessert! Now, go cut yourself a piece!
(Thanks for the recipe Kim Carlson!)

Grandma White's Sponge (Vinegar) Candy

Ahhhh....sponge candy........who knew you could make it at home!  I got this recipe from my friend Kim Seal.  Her official title is "Grandma White's Sponge (Vinegar) Candy".  This is what it looked like after it cooled in the pan.  THEN, you get to let your anger out and smack it on the counter to break it!  LOL

I found that I got some big pieces, some medium pieces, and a lot of tiny pieces.  I came up with a plan!

I left some plain, dipped the big pieces in melted chocolate, and mixed the tiny stuff with melted chocolate.  I ended up with three diferent kinds of candy, and it was all VERY YUMMY!

Lobster Dip

It took a while, but I finally got to make Kim Carlson's Lobster dip.  (She sent it to me January 1!)  We had some people over for the Superbowl......YEAH SAINTS!!!  This can be made in the oven or in the crockpot.  (I broke one of my 4 crockpots ............. dropped it on the floor along with another one.  The little one took the brunt of the fall ...crushed it and broke a handle off of it.  It did save the really good one from being broken!)  I will be posting items from the party all week!  Come back tomorrow and see what else we ate!

Broccoli Cheese Casserole

WOW!  This is a really late post.  I actually made this yesterday.  I have been busy, busy, busy!!  Here it is.  Kim Seal sent this to me.............along with a few other recipes.  (The Stroganoff??  That was Kim's.)  This was very good and it was another one of those that tastes even better the second day.  It is similar to the broccoli and rice recipe that I think a lot of us have made and Kim even adds that variation to the end of her recipe.........This is actually two recipes in one!
OH, by the way, those are Ritz crackers on the top!

Kim's Beef Stroganoff

I made this over the weekend.  I had some and it was very yummy the day I made it.  Yesterday, Tom, Tanner and TJ and I had it for dinner.  It was even BETTER than the first day.  I love recipes like that.  This is probably the easiest Beef Stroganoff recipe I have ever made.

Today, I am going to begin putting some of the pages of the book together.  I can't believe how many things I have already made.  This is really fun!  I am so blessed to have so many friends!  Keep those recipes coming!  This book is going to be a keeper!

Chicken in Curry Cream Sauce

I got this recipe from my friend Lauren Bailey quite a few years ago.  I ran across it and made it for dinner over the weekend.  My husband, who claims he hates curry, had seconds.  LOL!  All I know is, there is nothing left!
